Minimal Access Surgery

Minimal Access Surgery

Minimal access surgery is completed with one or more small incisions instead of a large incision. The surgeon passes a telescope with a video camera through a small incision (usually only 1/4″ long) into a body cavity. The surgeon then views the surgery on a TV monitor. Surgical instruments are then passed through other similar little incisions. The surgeon examines and operates on the area in question by viewing magnified images on a television. Dr. Mukund Thakur is a highly experienced and respected Minimal access, Weight loss and Thoracoscopic Surgeon based in Nagpur, India.

Thoracoscopy

Thoracoscopy is a procedure a doctor uses to look at the space inside the chest (outside of the lungs). This is done with a thoracoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a light and a small video camera on the end. The tube is put in through a small cut made near the lower end of the shoulder blade between the ribs.

Gallstone surgery

Gallstones are small stones made from cholesterol, bile pigment and calcium salts, which form in a person’s gall bladder. Gallbladder needs to be removed (called a cholecystectomy) if gallstones (or other types of gallbladder disease) are causing problems. Techniques include laparoscopic (‘keyhole’) cholecystectomy. The gallbladder is not a vital organ, so your body can cope quite well without it.
