Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography
A procedure that uses high-energy sound waves to look at tissues and organs inside the body. The sound waves make echoes that form pictures of the tissues and organs on a computer screen (sonogram). Ultrasonography may be used to help diagnose diseases, such as cancer.
Early pregnancy scan : The earliest an ultrasound scan can identify a healthy pregnancy inside. It is done 6 to 9 weeks of pregnancy.
NT scan : A nuchal translucency scan is an ultrasound scan that measures your baby’s nuchal translucency — a fluid-filled space behind your baby’s neck . It is done 11 to 13 weeks of pregnancy.
Anomaly scan : An anomaly scan, also known as a mid-pregnancy scan, takes a close look at your baby from head to toe to look for any abnormality and your womb (uterus) . It is done 18 to 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Growth scan : The growth scan, sometimes called the wellbeing scan, or positioning scan, occurs when the mother is between 23 and 40 weeks pregnant.
Doppler : Doppler ultrasound uses sound waves to detect the movement of blood in vessels. It is used in pregnancy to study blood circulation in the baby, uterus and placenta.
